2017 TAPPI Tissue 203 – Converting System Analysis and Simulation Course

A One-Day Workshop Series for Anyone in Converting Operations!
TAPPI is excited to partner with Pulsar in delivering a series of one-day workshops designed to help those working with tissue converting lines improve operations.

The TAPPI Tissue 203 – Converting System Analysis & Simulation Workshop is designed to help operators optimize layouts and minimize bottlenecks with the use of a newly developed Plant Layout Simulator (PLS) calculation software created by Pulsar.

Tissue instructors will use Pulsar’s application, called TISSUEPLS to model various situations and demonstrate visually the impact on productivity. You’ll be taught in this workshop how to leverage the easy-to-use PLS tool for your operations, how to input your own data and define layouts, and then analyze your converting lines.

Participants will also benefit from a limited 30-day license for this simulation software, which can be useful in marketing and in production to check existing lines and define potential new products.

Converting System Analysis & Simulation

A One-Day Workshop Series for Anyone in Converting Operations!
TAPPI is excited to partner with Pulsar in delivering a series of one-day workshops designed to help those working with tissue converting lines improve operations.

The TAPPI Tissue 203 – Converting System Analysis & Simulation Workshop is designed to help operators optimize layouts and minimize bottlenecks with the use of a newly developed Plant Layout Simulator (PLS) calculation software created by Pulsar.

Tissue PLSCourse instructors will use Pulsar’s application, called TISSUEPLS to model various situations and demonstrate visually the impact on productivity.

In this workshop, you will learn how to:

Apply the continuity principle to converting line analysis
Identify tissue converting system bottlenecks and how they move with changes to equipment capabilities and tissue product design (equal versus proportional speeds)
Understand the benefits of line speed tuning/harmonization and how to calculate speed balances
Utilize process simulation and modeling, and how to apply the technology to understand and improve converting operations
Pinpoint typical converting benchmarks on your equipment
Understand the application of automatic quality systems in the converting line
The one-day, hands-on workshops will be held at different locations throughout 2017:

Workshop Date Location Early-Bird Savings Deadline
February 21 Green Bay, Wisconsin January 21
April 4 Raleigh, North Carolina March 4
June 6 Portland, Oregon May 6
September 28 Paramus, New Jersey August 28
November 14 New Orleans, Louisiana October 14
Each workshop is planned from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This workshop is ideal for:

Converting Line Superintendents
Converting Leaders
Converting Process Engineers
Design Engineers
Suppliers
Tissue Planners
Product Marketing Personnel
This PLS software requires only simple mathematic calculations. No other pre-requisite for participation is required.

Pulsar was founded in 1989 and is based in Castelmaggiore, in northern Italy, near the center of what has been called the “packaging valley” of Europe. Pulsar’s activities are the engineering, production and creation of “movimentation” and transport solutions for the packaging, tissue and automation industries. Pulsar has built more than 100 systems and eight complete plants for major tissue manufacturers. The company’s continued work on the improvement of production line management has led to the creation of hardware and software combinations to optimize machinery and operations.
